PALAIS HANSEN KEMPINSKI SERVES THE FAMOUS APPLE STRUDEL

Updated: Nov 16, 2023

The 5-star superior Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna offers a modern and luxurious lifestyle in the historic Ringstrasse palace. The Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna, which is protected as a historic monument, on Schottenring is part of the famous Ringstrasse boulevard.

Originally built by the famous architect Theophil Hansen as a hotel for the 1873 World's Fair, the historic Palais has only returned to its original purpose after the takeover by the Kempinski hotel chain in 2013. With 152 rooms and suites on three floors, several restaurants, including the highly decorated EDVARD, the Palais impresses with great history, contemporary design and international luxury. The exclusive β€žKempinski The Spaβ€œ with pool, fitness and beauty area rounds off the luxury hotel's offerings.

GOURMET RESTAURANT WITH MICHELIN STAR AND 17 GAULT & MILLAU POINTS

EDVARD, awarded one Michelin star and 17 Gault & Millau points, is the gourmet restaurant at the Palais Hansen Kempinski and one of the best fine-dining restaurants in Vienna. The cuisine combines seasonal and international products with the culinary art of the young kitchen team to create modern creations with Alpine charm and Mediterranean flair.

Thanks to the extensive wine list and the professional advice of the sommeliers, guests will also find the right wine accompaniment to the unique dishes.

The name of the restaurant is a tribute to the famous architect of Palais Hansen - Theophil Edvard Hansen. It has 40 seats and discreet stucco decorations; dark wooden floors and fresh colours characterize the design.

"DIE KÜCHE WIEN" PRESENTS VIENNESE CLASSICS AND SEASONAL HIGHLIGHTS

"Die KΓΌche Wien" with Viennese classics, seasonal highlights and a feel-good atmosphere offers the perfect setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is open from the early morning hours until late evening. The Champagne Brunch on Sundays and public holidays is one of the best in town with everything your heart desires: from Viennese breakfast classics to homemade pastries and a large selection of hot dishes, some of which are freshly prepared in front of the guests. Interaction is just as important in the restaurant: between guests and the kitchen team at the Chef's Tables and at the "Tischlein Deck Dich" or at the "WeinHochZwei" event, which regularly provides an exchange with Austrian winemakers.

The "Lobby Lounge & Bar" is the hotel's living room and meeting place for the Viennese and their guests. Whether first-class cocktails, the finest coffee specialities or cakes from the hotel's own patisserie - here you will find the right offer for every time of day and night. A highlight in the lobby is the British-style Afternoon Tea with homemade sweet and savoury delicacies. Additionally, there is a comprehensive menu with exclusively loose tea specialities from the Demmer tea house. Some of the rarities found here are only available at the Palais Hansen Kempinski.

GRANDMA'S SPECIAL RECIPE - HOMEMADE AND FRESH FROM THE OVEN

A little bell rings, an irresistible aroma pervades the lobby and the guests curiously stick their heads in the direction of the little trolley pushing its way from table to table: it's apple strudel time at the Palais Hansen Kempinski. The strudel is baked fresh several times a day (according to a traditional Viennese recipe,) and served still warm from the oven. If you would like to enjoy the strudel at home, the patissiers will introduce you to their art at the apple strudel baking course every first and third Saturday of the month.

CIGAR LOUNGE BETWEEN LANDMARKED COLUMNS AND GLASS WALLS

Architecturally, the Cigar Lounge is particularly interesting with its combination of landmarked columns and glass walls. In Vienna's largest hotel Cigar Lounge, connoisseurs can choose from cigar treasures ranging from Bolivar to Partagas and rent their own humidor.

The Kempinski The Spa offers 800 square metres of relaxation and wellness for hotel guests and day spa visitors. The spa is equipped with a fitness room with Technogym equipment, six treatment rooms, a hydro pool, a sauna area with Finnish sauna, steam bath, bio sauna and a separate ladies' sauna. The design of the spa reflects Vienna's location on the border between Eastern and Western Europe, with 1920s Viennese-style glass art and Ottoman-style lamps, mosaics and wooden screens.

THE PORTER SPREADS VIENNESE CHARM WITH A "SERVUS" @ HANSEN KEMPINSKI

At the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna, lived history meets a modern attitude to life and this is also reflected in the design: historical architecture and neoclassical elements merge with modern interiors and clear colours.

Viennese flair runs through the entire hotel: from the charm of the porter who greets guests with a "Servus", to the freshly baked apple strudel in the cozy lobby, to the traditional horse-drawn carriage awaiting guests in front of the hotel.

COMMENT:

The Kempinski brand represents exquisite hotels worldwide. As Europe's oldest luxury hotel group, it embodies first-class European style. The staff's efforts to provide perfection at all times and in every conceivable way do not preclude its charm. A "Servus" from the porter as soon as you enter the hotel, the classic pastry "Apfelstrudel" in the culinary offerings, and a horse-drawn carriage outside the door do not conceal where you are in the world.
